Served as production editor for an edition of the newspaper as part of editorial board. Involved in layout and design.
Toronto Online Observer: January 2008 to present
Met tight deadlines for breaking news events. Wrote hard news stories on a variety of subjects such as business, politics, education and arts. Covered the 2007 Ontario provincial election.
Centennial Courier: January 2008 to present
Served as editor on college newspaper covering two different campuses. Generated story ideas on school-related issues and assigning coverage to other student journalists. Responsible for page design using InDesign including writing headlines, cutlines along with copy-editing submitted articles.
Multicom Media: June 2008 to August 2008
General assignment reporter for The Town Crier newspaper and Vaughan Today, community newspapers serving the Greater Toronto Area and the City of Vaughan. Pitched story ideas on a weekly basis. Wrote hard news stories on subjects including politics, crime and city hall. Assigned to write entertainment stories and features on subjects including homes, families, kids and education. Shot most of the pictures for assigned stories.
RELATED EXPERIENCE
E-Boy Young Talking Club: September 2006 to June 2007
Worked as English teacher on Jeju Island, South Korea. Taught English grammar, vocabulary and conversation skills to students ranging from kindergarten to university along with adult class. Prepared lesson plans on a daily basis. Wrote over 100 written student evaluations each month. Provided feedback and consultation to parents and students.
